Questions

Straight answers before you call

If yours isn't here, ask Theo. He'll find the person who knows.

How much does a first meeting cost?

A first meeting is 45 minutes with a lawyer, for a flat fee we'll tell you when you book. If you hire us, it's credited to your retainer.

How do you bill?

Most family cases are billed by the hour against a retainer you pay up front. You'll get a written estimate after the first meeting and an itemized bill every month.

Will I work with one lawyer or the whole team?

One lawyer leads your case and makes the decisions with you. A paralegal works alongside them, which keeps your costs down: paralegal time is billed at a lower rate.

How fast will you get back to me?

Theo answers the phone during office hours. If your lawyer is in court, you'll hear back from them or their paralegal within one business day.

Can you contact me safely?

Yes. Tell us a safe number, a safe time and whether we can leave messages. We'll follow it every time.

Do you meet by video?

Yes, for first meetings and most of the case. Many hearings in family court are held by video too.

Will my spouse know I talked to you?

Not from us. What you tell us in a first meeting stays confidential, even if you don't hire us.

Do I have to go to court?

Many family cases end in an agreement the judge signs. If yours needs a hearing, we'll prepare you for it and be there with you.

What should I do before I call?

Make copies of tax returns, pay stubs and account statements and keep them somewhere safe. Don't move money or move out of the house before you've talked to a lawyer.

Do you take cases outside Phoenix?

Yes, anywhere in Maricopa County, and some cases in neighboring counties by video. Ask when you call.

Still have a question?

Call the office. Theo will answer it or find the person who can.
